The Classic Touring Car Racing Club championships moved onto Rockingham for the weekend of May 11/12 and met with variable weather conditions.

Possibly the highlight of the weekend was battle for supremacy in the second Autoglym Pre ’83 Touring Car Championship. After exchanging places time after time the race win went to Nic Strong (Ford Capri) ahead of Mark Osborne (Triumph Dolomite Sprint and Malc Best (Ford Capri) who snatched third from Saturday’s winner Neil Bray (Ford Fiesta) by 0.028s.

Congratulations to all who took part and of course to the winners.

A fuller report will appear soon. Click above for photo galleries of the weekend’s racing.

Once again John Wright paid for the doughnuts for the marshals.

Saturday evening saw one of our famed barbecues although the weather conditions did not help.

Many thanks to Tony Palmer for sourcing the food and to Craig Rainer and Chris Stanbridge for doing the cooking.

Once again John Wright paid for the doughnuts for the marshals.

The committee apologies for not being able to present trophies for the second races at the weekend due to an “up-cock” at our suppliers.

They have now been received safely and will be awarded as appropriate at the first opportunity. Obviously we would have preferred to do the job on Sunday as it now means even more work getting it co-ordinated.
